Catholic Author and Radio Personality to Speak at Our Lady of Peace Church and Shrine, March 23, 2018

SANTA CLARA, CALIFORNIA (03/01/2018) — Best-selling author and radio host Patrick Madrid will visit Our Lady of Peace Church and Shrine (SANTA CLARA, CA) on March 23 to present a seminar on the biblical and historical foundations of the Catholic Faith.
The seminar, entitled “WHY BE CATHOLIC? (When You Could Be Anything Else?)”, is billed as “a charitable and respectful examination of a dozen key biblical and historical reasons for being Catholic, [ e.g.] Why Catholics leave the Church, why they return, what lay Catholics can do to help people better understand the teachings of the Catholic Church from a biblical and historical standpoint..”

The event will begin at 7 p.m. and is open to the public. Admission is free.

“Apologetics” is a term in Catholic theology which refers to the process of explaining the Catholic Faith and answering questions and objections in a charitable and respectful way.
Catholics regard verses such as 1 Peter 3:15-16 and Jude 3 as biblical exhortations to engage in apologetics discussions with non-Catholics.
After an intermission for refreshments and a book signing by Mr. Madrid, who will have many of his books, DVDs, and CDs available, a lively question-and-answer session with extended audience participation will follow the presentation.
Apologetics has been present in the Catholic Church since the days of the New Testament. Some prominent Catholic apologists include St. Paul, Augustine of Hippo, Thomas Aquinas, Francis de Sales, and John Henry Newman. The field of Catholic apologetics and evangelization has experienced a strong resurgence, especially among lay Catholics in the United States, in the last decade.
