From when she was a little girl, Dawn Eden Goldstein knew she wanted those things—that in them, somehow, she would find God.

But her life’s search led her away from the temples of her childhood Judaism to the music clubs of Greenwich Village, where she became an acolyte of a new religion: rock & roll. Over the years she earned renown as a rock critic and historian, moving among some of popular music’s biggest names, all the while straining to capture that transcendent love and beauty in their every note and lyric.

Yet her longing only deepened; the hole in her heart only grew. God’s voice was calling her, but first she needed ears to hear.

In Sunday Will Never Be the Same, Goldstein recounts her spiritual journey in beautifully wrought detail, mixing powerful accounts of trauma, healing, and epiphany with funny and poignant anecdotes from inside the music scene. It is the rare “conversion story” that delights as it inspires, amuses as it edifies—and ultimately lays before the reader a lived testimony to the transforming grace of Christ.

Dawn Eden Goldstein is an American Roman Catholic author and journalist who was formerly a rock music historian and tabloid newspaper headline writer. Under the pen name Dawn Eden, she has also written books on topics concerning faith, sexuality, and spiritual healing.

From Fire, By Water: An Evening with Sohrab Ahmari

On Saturday, May 4th, come join us for an evening with Sohrab Ahmari as he recounts his pivotal conversion story, as told in his most recent book, From Fire, By Water.
His books will be available for purchase at the event.

6:00pm  Doors Open, Reception
7:00pm  Talk by Sohrab Ahmari
8:15pm  Book Signing

“Sohrab Ahmari is emerging as one of the finest minds and writers of his generation,
and the story of his conversion recounted here will stay with the reader for a very long time.”

–Archbishop Charles J. Chaput, from the Foreword

Sohrab Ahmari was a teenager living under the Iranian ayatollahs when he decided that there is no God. Nearly two decades later, he would be received into the Roman Catholic Church.
In From Fire, by Water, he recounts this unlikely passage, from the strident Marxism and atheism of a youth misspent on both sides of the Atlantic to a moral and spiritual awakening prompted by the Mass. At once a young intellectual’s finely crafted self-portrait and a life story at the intersection of the great ideas and events of our time, the book marks the debut of a compelling new Catholic voice.

About
Sohrab Ahmari is an Iranian-American journalist, editor, and author of nonfiction books. He is currently the op-ed editor of the New York Post and a contributing editor of the Catholic Herald. Previously, he served as a columnist and editor with the Wall Street Journal opinion pages in New York and London, and as a senior writer at Commentary magazine. Ahmari co-edited the 2012 book Arab Spring Dreams, an anthology of essays by young Mideast dissidents. Ahmari’s book, The New Philistines, a polemic on how identity politics are corrupting the arts, was released on October 20, 2016 from Biteback Publishing. In January 2019, Ignatius Press published his spiritual memoir, From Fire, by Water, about his conversion to Roman Catholicism.
