Great Adventure Bible Study Series

The Great Adventure Bible Study program seeks to draw people into a transforming relationship with Christ through Scripture as it is read from within the heart of the Catholic Church. There are three foundational studies of the Great Adventure.

  1. The Bible Timeline: The Story of Salvation─ A rich exploration of the twelve periods of salvation history as told in fourteen “narrative books” of the Bible. (24 Weeks study)
  2. Matthew: The King and His Kingdom─ The gospel of Mathew is studied for a deeper understanding of the period of Messianic Fulfillment (24 Week Study)
  3. Acts: The Spread of the Kingdom─ In the same way the fourteen narrative books of the Bible Timeline form a framework for understanding the rest of Scripture, Acts provides a historic framework for understanding the rest of the New Testament. Here, the overall story of the Bible becomes our story as well as we learn to understand the period of the Church and find our place within it. (20 Week Study)

Our Lady of Peace offers one to two Great Adventure foundational studies each September. In addition, a shorter study follows in April.

Study Format

In these studies you will
  • Do the assigned reading at home…
  • Answer homework questions…
  • Come to the study each week and discuss the questions in your small group and review the prepared Great Adventure Responses…
  • Enjoy fellowship with the members of the study…
  • View the DVD presentation prepared by Jeff Cavins, Dr. Tim Gray, Sarah Christmyer

“The Great Adventure Bible Study Series are simply an amazing way to learn the Story of Salvation and to understand in depth why we do and believe the tings we do as Catholics!” – Jacqueline Yepez

Our current Great Adventure Bible Study is

First Corinthians: the Church and the Christian Community-by Tim Gray, Ph.D.
The conflicts of the early Christians in Corinth are in many ways similar to our struggles today as Christians. With divisions, immorality, persecution, and other trials of the faithful, the messages of St. Paul to the Corinthians is a much-needed message for our own times. (11 Sessions) The Study Facilitator is David Dumo.
