“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” Matthew 28:19-20.
Catholic Church’s Requirements for Parents and Godparents
The Church asks that the parents make a serious promise to raise the child Catholic. Godparents, however, must be confirmed, practicing members of the Church, and living a life in accord with their faith. Those who are married outside the Church or who are “living together” may not be godparents.
Christians from another Church, or Catholics who do no qualify may act as Christian witnesses to baptism; however, there must be at least one Catholic godparent who does qualify.
Days and Times
English baptisms are celebrated on the first Saturday of each month at 3:30 pm. Spanish baptisms are celebrated on the second Saturday of each month at 3:30pm.
To register your child for baptism
Godparents must complete a godparent eligibility form and attend two Baptism Seminars before the child can be registered. Both the Parents and Godparents are required to take two Baptism Seminars, one on “Christian Living,” and one on the “Ceremony of Baptism.” A Certificate of Completion will be given at the end of the second seminar.
