Thank you for choosing to be part of our parish at Our Lady of Peace Church (also referred in this document as “OLOP”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). OLOP operates the https://www.olop-shrine.org website (also referred as the “Service”). When you visit our website and use our services, you trust us with your personal information. We take your privacy very seriously. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our Service and the choices you have associated with that data. We use your data to provide and improve the Service.

The processing of personal data is governed by the General Data Protection Regulation (the “GDPR”). By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. We  hope you take some time to read through it carefully, as it is important. If there are any terms in this privacy policy that you do not agree with, please discontinue use of our Sites or Apps and our services.

Information Collection and Use

OLOP is the data controller. This means we decide how your personal data is processed and for what purposes. We collect several different types of information for various purposes to provide and improve our Service to you.

OLOP complies with its obligations under the “GDPR” by keeping personal data up to date; by storing and destroying it securely; by not collecting or retaining excessive amounts of data; by protecting personal data from loss, misuse, unauthorized access and disclosure and by ensuring that appropriate technical measures are in place to protect personal data.

We use the collected data for the following purposes:

  • To enable us to provide a voluntary service for the benefit of the community encompassing OLOP.
  • To administer membership records.
  • To fundraise and promote the interests of charity (by mail or email only)
  • To manage our employees and volunteers.
  • To maintain our own accounts and records
  • To inform you of news, events, activities and services at OLOP. (by mail or email only)
  • To share your contact details with the OLOP parish office so they can keep you informed about news in the OLOP and events, activities and services that will be occurring and in which you may be interested.
  • To provide analysis or valuable information so that we can improve the Service.
  • To monitor the usage of the Service.
  • To detect, prevent and address technical issues.

OLOP may disclose your Personal Data in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to:

We may employ third party companies and individuals to facilitate our Service (“Service Providers”), to provide the Service on our behalf, to perform Service-related services or to assist us in analyzing how our Service is used. These third parties have access to your Personal Data only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.

We may use third-party Service Providers to monitor and analyze the use of our Service.

  • Google Analytics

Google Analytics is a web analytics service offered by Google that tracks and reports website traffic. Google uses the data collected to track and monitor the use of our Service. This data is shared with other Google services. Google may use the collected data to contextualize and personalize the ads of its own advertising network.

You can opt-out of having made your activity on the Service available to Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The add-on prevents the Google Analytics JavaScript (ga.js, analytics.js, and dc.js) from sharing information with Google Analytics about visits activity.

Our Service may contain links to other sites that are not operated by us. If you click on a third party link, you will be directed to that third party’s site. Privacy Rights

  • The right to request that the data controller provide the data subject with his/her personal data and where possible, to transmit that data directly to another data controller, (known as the right to data portability), where applicable.
  • The right, where there is a dispute in relation to the accuracy or processing of your personal data, to request a restriction is placed on further processing.
  • The right to object to the processing of personal data, (where applicable).
  • The right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.

Children’s Privacy      

  • Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 18 (“Children”).
  • We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 18. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your Children has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Data from children without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information from our servers.
  • If you are under 18 years of age, reside in California, and have a registered account with the Service, you have the right to request removal of unwanted data that you publicly post on the Service. To request removal of such data, please contact us using the contact information provided below, and include the email address associated with your account and a statement that you reside in California. We will make sure the data is not publicly displayed on the Service, but please be aware that the data may not be completely removed from our systems.

SMS Messaging Policy

For your reference, when you contact us through our church telephone numbers (as listed in our website “Contact Us”) via SMS messaging, we use a third-party service application (GoToConnect).  Your contact information is automatically collected and stored, including:

  • Your mobile phone number
  • The content of your SMS message

We only use this information directly related to your inquiry as necessary for us to respond.  We do not use this data as part of any direct campaigns or automated contact processes. Message frequency varies. Message & data rates may apply.

Your Consent for SMS messaging

By contacting us through the parish office via SMS, you consent to this privacy policy. If you do not agree with any part of this policy, please refrain from using SMS as a means of communication or use the SMS opt-out option below.

How Your Information is Used

The information you provide via SMS is used solely for the purpose of:

  • Responding to your inquiry
    • Confirming Mass times, office hours, directions
    • Making/Confirming appointments
    • Answering questions about upcoming events or programs
    • Providing information requested on processes related to registration
    • Answering an inquiry about a service related to operations

“Hi Bob. This is Lucy at Our Lady of Peace.  Did you receive the receipt for your donation? MsgFreqVaries. Msg&Data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel.”

“Hi Sally. This is Michael from Our Lady of Peace.  Please send me a copy of the contract for review. MsgFreqVaries. Msg&Data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel.”

”“Hi Sam.  This is Joe at Our Lady of Peace. I’m sorry I missed you today.  Please let me know when is a better time to meet. MsgFreqVaries. Msg&Data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel.”

“Hi Betty. This is Leslie at Our Lady of Peace. We found your cat!!! What should we do? MsgFreqVaries. Msg&Data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel.”


SMS Opt-In Option

OLOP does not coordinate any campaigns to reach out to you via SMS and will only send SMS messages as needed for quick answers and responses between employees and parishioners or vendors.  

Note: At this time, there are only two ways you will be opted-in:

  1. If you provide your telephone number by any other method (filling out paper or on-line forms, email, phone call) we may contact you for the purpose of providing a requested service.
  2. The first time an employee contacts you via SMS message using the office telephone system (via GoToConnect), you will automatically receive the following message:
    “You are currently opted-in to receive SMS messages from Our Lady of Peace.  We respect your privacy as explained in our Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions found at www.olop-shrine.org.  Msg & Data rates may applu. Msg Freq Varies. Reply HELP for support.  Reply STOP to opt-out.”

Help

By texting “Help” to any SMS messages received from an OLOP phone number, you will receive the following message:

“Thank you for reaching out to Our Lady of Peace. Please call us at +1 408-988-4585 or email us at info@olop-shrine.org for support. Reply STOP to opt out.

SMS Opt-Out Option

If you would like to stop receiving SMS responses from us, please reply “STOP” to one of our SMS messages at any time. You will receive the following message:

“You have successfully opted out from OLOP SMS Communications and will no longer receive text messages from us via the GoTo connect application. To opt back in, reply START to any message.”

We will process your request promptly and discontinue SMS communication with you.

Note: This policy applies only to SMS communications via OLOP’s phone numbers (as listed online on our “Contact Us” webpage)–which uses the GoToConnect application.   In the event an OLOP employee communicates with you by personal cell phone and you prefer to not communicate with any one OLOP employee using personal cell phones, please notify the sender personally of your preferences.
